Job Description & Workplace Context
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and test LV, MV and HV switchboards
- Carry out mechanical and electrical functional testing
- Perform insulation resistance, continuity and polarity testing
- Complete phase rotation and earth continuity checks
- Test operational and control circuits
- Verify protection relays and associated protection systems
- Identify and rectify electrical, wiring and functional faults
- Assemble and modify switchboards, MCCs and control panels
- Interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
- Complete Factory Acceptance Testing
- Record test results and maintain commissioning documentation
- Ensure equipment meets relevant Australian Standards and project specifications
- Assist with site installation and commissioning activities
- Participate in shutdowns and after-hours project work when required
- Support and mentor apprentices and junior electrical personnel
- HV/MV Electrical Engineer – Switchboards & Power Systems
- Provide engineering support across HV and MV electrical projects
- Work with switchboards, switchgear and transportable substations
- Support power distribution and protection and control systems
- Review electrical drawings, specifications and technical documentation
- Assist with electrical system design and project development
- Provide technical support to manufacturing and production teams
- Work with testing and commissioning teams to resolve technical issues
- Apply Australian Standards and project specifications to engineering activities
- Assist with technical investigations and problem solving
- Collaborate with project, engineering, production and quality teams
- Support project delivery from engineering through to testing and commissioning
- Contribute to continuous improvement and engineering optimisation
Candidate Requirements & Eligibility
- Current Queensland Electrical Work Licence as an Electrical Mechanic or Electrical Fitter
- Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician or Electrical Fitting
- Minimum 3 years of industrial switchboard manufacturing, testing or commissioning experience
- Demonstrated experience with LV switchboards and MCCs
- Strong electrical testing and commissioning skills
- Experience in fault finding and electrical troubleshooting
- Exposure to MV/HV switchgear, substations or protection systems is advantageous
- Ability to read electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and single line diagrams
- Knowledge of AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000 and relevant Australian Standards
- Current CPR/LVR certification
- Strong safety awareness and attention to technical detail
- Ability to work across workshop and site environments
- Willingness to travel occasionally for installation and commissioning activities
- HV/MV Electrical Engineer
- Australian registration as an Electrical Engineer
- Minimum 2 years of relevant industry experience
- Experience with HV and/or MV electrical systems
- Experience with switchboards, switchgear, substations, protection and control systems or power distribution
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings and engineering documentation
- Strong technical reasoning and problem-solving skills
- Knowledge of applicable Australian Standards
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineering, manufacturing and project teams
- Strong communication and documentation skills
- Candidates currently holding a Subclass 482 visa are welcome to apply
- Ability to work within a technical manufacturing and engineering environment
