Key Responsibilities
- Support the Head Chef with daily kitchen operations
- Take an active leadership role during busy service periods
- Guide, train, and motivate kitchen team members
- Prepare and deliver quality dishes consistently
- Maintain food presentation, portion, and recipe standards
- Coordinate kitchen preparation and service requirements
- Assist with ordering and supplier coordination
- Monitor stock levels and inventory
- Support food cost control and minimise wastage
- Maintain food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards
- Contribute practical ideas to menu development and seasonal changes
- Assist with maintaining consistent standards across premium proteins, seafood, modern classics, and pub-style dishes
- Work collaboratively with management and front-of-house staff
- Help maintain an efficient and positive kitchen culture
Candidate Requirements & Eligibility
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or senior chef ready to progress
- Experience in a high-volume pub, bistro, restaurant, or comparable hospitality kitchen
- Strong hands-on cooking and food preparation skills
- Demonstrated ability to manage kitchen responsibilities during busy services
- Strong understanding of food quality, presentation, and consistency
- Experience with stock management, ordering, and food cost control
- Knowledge of food safety and kitchen hygiene requirements
- Ability to lead and support a diverse kitchen team
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure
- Professional and reliable approach to kitchen operations
- Ability to provide evidence supporting previous culinary employment and experience
- Willingness to complete a performance review as part of sponsorship consideration
