Job Description & Workplace Context
Key Responsibilities
- Provide safe, individualised and evidence-based midwifery care
- Support women through antenatal, labour, birth and postnatal stages
- Assess and monitor maternal and newborn wellbeing
- Identify and escalate clinical concerns in accordance with professional standards
- Support women to make informed decisions about their maternity care
- Provide education and practical guidance to women and families
- Assist with newborn care, breastfeeding support and early parenting education
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation
- Work closely with obstetricians, nurses, neonatal staff and other healthcare professionals
- Participate in clinical education, mentoring and professional development activities
- Contribute to quality improvement and positive patient-care outcomes
- Support students and graduate midwives through appropriate supervision and guidance
Candidate Requirements & Eligibility
- Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Midwife
- Recognised qualification in Midwifery
- Demonstrated clinical experience in maternity care
- Strong understanding of woman-centred and evidence-based practice
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Strong commitment to professional standards and continuing education
- Birth suite, antenatal, postnatal or special care nursery experience is highly regarded
- Ability to work permanent full-time, part-time or casual hours
- Eligible onshore applicants requiring visa sponsorship will be considered
- Ability to meet Australian registration and employment requirements
