We are seeking a capable Roading Maintenance Supervisor for a permanent, full-time opportunity in Marlborough, New Zealand. This position is ideal for an experienced roading professional who enjoys leading from the field, coordinating people and resources, and taking responsibility for keeping essential infrastructure safe and operational.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate a small road maintenance crew
  • Organise daily work activities and allocate maintenance priorities
  • Plan and monitor routine and reactive maintenance programmes
  • Inspect road networks and identify defects, hazards and potential risks
  • Assess road maintenance requirements and recommend appropriate solutions
  • Record defects and maintenance information using GPS and tablet systems
  • Coordinate emergency maintenance and incident responses
  • Monitor crew and contractor performance and work quality
  • Maintain strong health, safety and traffic management standards
  • Communicate with clients, contractors and internal operational teams
  • Ensure maintenance work is completed efficiently and to required standards
  • Participate in an on-call roster and respond to urgent incidents
  • Attend night-time call-outs, animal hazards and other road emergencies
  • Provide hands-on guidance and leadership to crew members
  • Make practical decisions independently in changing conditions

Candidate Requirements & Eligibility

  • Demonstrated experience in roading maintenance or civil construction
  • Previous experience as a Roading Foreman, Supervisor or similar position
  • Strong knowledge of road maintenance materials, methods and repair practices
  • Proven ability to lead and coordinate a small team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good organisational, planning and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of assigned responsibilities
  • Confidence using tablets, GPS systems and basic computer applications
  • Experience with AWM or RAMM is highly advantageous
  • Strong understanding of workplace health and safety
  • Knowledge of traffic management procedures
  • Ability to remain calm and effective during emergencies
  • Class 2 New Zealand driver's licence or equivalent
  • Relevant overseas roading experience may be considered
  • Ability to provide verifiable employment history and professional experience
  • Sponsorship available for suitable international candidates
